National Livestock Mission: Genetic Improvement of Pig Breeds - Import of Exotic Pig Germplasm

This is a central government scheme run by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying to improve pig farming in India. It helps farmers and livestock agencies produce better quality pigs by bringing in superior pig breeds from other countries. The scheme supports setting up facilities to collect and process pig semen, and importing high-quality pig germplasm to upgrade local pig breeds.
