“Training in Coir” Component of the "Development of Coir" Scheme

This scheme is run by the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Puducherry, to develop the coir (coconut fiber) industry in the region. It provides free 6-month training to rural poor people in how to make coir products. The main goal is to teach new skills and create job opportunities for people in rural areas through coir-based work.
