How to Calculate Gold Jewellery Price
The total price of gold jewellery is calculated in three steps. First, the gold value is determined by multiplying the weight (in grams) by the per-gram rate for the chosen purity. Second, making charges — typically 8–25% of the gold value — are added to cover the craftsman's fee for shaping the jewellery. Finally, GST at 3% is levied on the sum of gold value and making charges as per Indian tax law.
For example, 10 grams of 22K gold at ₹14,285/g with 12% making charges and 3% GST works out to: Gold ₹1,42,850 + Making ₹17,142 + GST ₹4,800 = Total ₹1,64,792.
